Carcosa Seri Negara High tea

Wendy and Yuen actually got me vouchers for high tea at Carcosa 6 months ago for my birthday (they want to throw something at me now), but we never got to going.

Some way or other something will come up, or we forgot, or we can always go next week.

Either way, they're excuses. Haha.

So queen of procrastination decides to make a reservation at Carcosa, else we'd NEVER go and the voucher is gonna expire and Wendy and I will not forgive me.

the road leading up to Carcosa. feels like we're going on a holiday already!:D

we were there a bit too early (they only start serving tea at 3pm) so we took a walk around

where Wendy is gonna get married!! oh my god we'll all cry at her wedding she'll be so embarrassed

babs <3

by the flowers, with a reflection. hahaa

they had 2 sets to choose from, both priced at RM70++ per person: English Afternoon tea and Malay Afternoon Tea. We went with the English set of course since they're supposed to be famous for that.

assorted sandwiches, salmon croissant, apple crumble, fruit cake, creme brûlée, cookies, carrot cake, scones, and a pot of tea of your choice

food was okay for me, nothing to shout about. But it was cosy, they had someone playing jazzy tunes on the piano (love!), and we felt like royalty, being attended to by a few waiters as there were so many around.

We talked, laughed, and sipped tea (with a pointed pinky hehe)

thanks Wendy and Yuen again for the wonderful experience! *slobbery kisses

celebrated Wai Ping's birthday at The Bee, Publika last night! cos it's almost synonymous to her. Give her the option of picking a place and chances are you'll find yourself there. In fact, the last time we went, the owner even GAVE her free ice cream.

'not on the menu yet'.

see, that's one level of commitment right there.

with Wendy, Yuen & Wei

and his customary faces *raised eyebrow

chili cheese fries and beer! yums.

Yuen's salmon salad which I stole

then someone hid her box of cigarettes and she had to make a thank you speech to get it back. which she did -_-

ah well. things she does.

we also bought her the tiramisu cake from Alexis cos it's her favorite!

<3

and Hopo got high on a few sips of beer oh my god. (wish I could post the pictures here)

The end.

my daffodils

Last weekend we made a little field trip to Sungai Buloh... to get plants. haha.

The last time we did our garden, everything was sourced from there. Even the stones to clad the exterior walls, we bought in crates! They have rows and rows of nurseries selling everything you could possibly think of for putting up in your garden, and they are *supposedly* cheaper?

so prettyyyy

anyway, the newly erected wooden structure now had some glass over them. We wanted to make the view a bit prettier so we got some flowering pots to hang up!

here's one side of it

I also wanted some flowers outside my bedroom windowsill cos the last time I had them, they urm, dried up. *shifty eyes

I promised to take care of the new beings so I was granted some daffodils (are these daffodils?!). Got them in little black plastic bags, planted them myself (!!), watered them, and transferred them to their new home. *beams

Now they bask in my admiring gaze every morning and night before I go to bed.

My email to Wei

Wei's parents are coming over for tea this Saturday and ohmygod I'm freaking out.

my room needs tidying, menu needs confirming, brother needs grooming (hahahaa *snorts), wedding details need ironing. I just hope everything turns out okay!

Meanwhile, Wei has been working from 6 to 10 *every*day* of the week. Poor guy even joked that he forgot how the sun looked like :( I still wonder how they do it, cos I can't imagine being constantly on my toes for 16 hours, back to back, with probably about 5 hours of sleep to sustain. gah. I love my bed too much.

So anyway, since it's so hard to catch him to finalize stuff on the wedding, I sent him an email.

lady of the Khoo manor has a nice ring to it don't you think?

hehehe. We discussed it a day after.

Now.. 2 more days to Saturday! *flutters

never never land

Bukit Tinggi BBQ restaurant

My dad's been bugging time and time again to go to Bukit Tinggi to eat at this 'restaurant'.

You have no idea how many variations we've heard of "you don't know what you're missing" in the past 2 months. Apparently Dad *discovered* it during one of his golfing sessions at Genting and have been wanting to bring us since.

So a week ago, he messaged us on group chat locking down Sunday noon for 'lunch at Bukit Tinggi'. 'Please clear your schedules' he said. Everyone had to confirm their attendance and Sunday noon saw us driving up to Bukit Tinggi on a mission. yay!

Wei and Suzzane came with us and the Superman shirt was unplanned, sort of. My little brother Jordan must have wanted to feel a sense of belonging cos he went upstairs to get changed again after seeing the pair

with the super boys!<3

they had vines hanging from all the entrances, and running water on the tin roof to keep the place cool. We spent close to 3 hours there even when it was scorching outside!

Dad ordered all their famous dishes -
Signature chicken dish. chicken was juicy and tender I'm starting to think it is a bad idea to be blogging about this at night

salt crusted Tilapia. you only eat the flesh!

Seafood pot - they had really fresh, large sized lalas, prawns, and crabs. then when you're done eating them, you remove the first layer and get to the best part, THE SOUP*salivate

the other 2 dishes we had were the lamb rack (left) and rice (top)

Lamb was SO GOOD. the skin was crispy, and the meat succulent and juicy. they served it with some home concocted mint sauce which was tangy and refreshing. ahh you have to try it to know it.

they cooked the rice in some soupy mash of sweet potatoes, capsicum, carrots and i don't know what else. Rice was okay for me, different but it got a bit overwhelming after a while.

The bill came up to about RM350 for the 7 of us. Lamb alone was RM120, and the Seafood pot RM90. Or... it could be the other way around, sorry I can't remember. The bill was itemized in symbols and drawings. X means fish. I don't know the rest :P  But those are the pricier dishes of the lot.

Apparently they don't allow takeaways, and if you go during dinner you're advised to call to order your dishes in advance.

Second remodeling

So we've been doing a bit of remodeling to the home! adding roofs to sections of the house we learnt the rain would come in, putting up a garden shed to store our garden tools, demolishing Max's kennel to make way for a little garden by the outdoor living (Max now gets a little door by the fence so he could slip out)..

If anything, we learnt that the vision we had of the place gets forced to change along the way.

we've been wanting to do up the garden again after 2 of our palm trees died, and patches of land we hoped for green green grass refuses to grow (poor drainage or something omg). we got the landscaper in, and he transformed our garden IN 2 DAYS.

so exciting to see !

we wanted a garden with minimal maintenance so he gave us low shrubs and more trees heheh

how it looks right about now

Dad also wanted a roof over certain areas yet didn't want to compromise on natural light. so glass roof it is
frame is up, glass to come next week.

the amount of planning, sourcing, and monitoring involved is crazy I shudder to think about my own place in the future :S

There's a story behind every purchase

another package arrived in the mail again recently!

However, this time, I had to work my way to get it.

Why? Because dad was home to receive the parcel before me and decides to confiscate it -__-

"because you won't stop buying". gah.

I came home from work, pretend to be looking for my notebook, and turned everything upside down. Maybe it's between the towels. MAYBE it's in the store. "Where. is. my. notebook??!?!" I hollered for good effect. I even went to the garden shed then I realize how crazy the thought was (let alone the sight) and stopped myself.

smelly girl with the crazy hair rummaging through garden tools for her heels.

damn he's good. I had no choice but to ask dad for it, and sit through 2 rounds of lecture about my shopping. sigh. then he decided to let me wait and give it to me over the weekend. -_-

Weekend came and I was the definition of good daughter (not that I wasn't on other days). Helped maid bathe Kobe, helped around the garden, arrange dinner.. then the first sight of it!

omgomg

ahh. the fruit of hard work.

I paraded in them while dad looked at mum and shook his head.
